Big Flowers, Messiah Musik - Save The Bees

“From the driver’s seat to me, ‘Save The Bees’ exists almost as a totem pole, an obelisk, some fantastical representation of the future-space. In navigating the pressures, anxieties and systemic presences of today’s life, it was easier for me to paint a mild caricature of “the state of it” than be so point and case with how things like displacement, ancestral weight and such manifest themselves for me and the people I hold close.

Community & family always been extremely close to center for me, as they were present themes on ‘Big Smile’, but ‘STB’ is more than that to me. This isn’t me just chatting about my own situation anymore: the flowers thing really made an imprint on me and the relationship between flowers and bees offered a metaphor to build from. I need my people to enable my growth, and if the world is not kind to them I’d like to envision and enact change for a better world, and that really is all the album is about. A horizon-based manifest of what I’d rather see in the world, for the sake of the ones I love. Hope it resonates, and I hope you stay excellent. Love, peace & power. Michael”
